What hillclimb draws while it climbs, live from a running search.
Watch searches in the terminal
hillclimb watch is the live TUI: runs, searches, candidates, and candidate
details. Searches filling in side by side, candidates landing, the tokens column climbing.
Climb progress
hillclimb chart plots every search of the problem: each dot is a scored
candidate in landing order, the line is the best score so far across all searches, and the
reference lines are the benchmark scores declared in problem.yaml. Click a legend entry to show
or hide that series.
Search tree
hillclimb tree draws the search as a tree: one circle per candidate under
the candidate it was made from, filled by score and ringed by what the search did with it, the
best a star and its lineage drawn bold. Drag the slider or press play to watch it grow.
Tree and climb side by side
hillclimb treeclimb puts the search tree and the climb chart of one search next to each other.
Every candidate is a circle in the tree and a dot on the chart; hover one and it lights up in
both. Drag the slider or press play to watch both grow.
Compare candidates
hillclimb similarity reference places every candidate of a search in a
box whose corner is the origin it grew from. The three edges out of that corner are three ways a
candidate can differ from it: how it behaves, its code, and how many edits away it is. Colour is
score and the best one's lineage is traced from the corner, so you can see whether a search spread
out over different ideas or kept refining one.
drag to turn the box · shift-drag to pan · scroll to zoom · double-click to reset · hover a candidate for where it sits · play to watch the search grow
Knowledge graph
hillclimb graph is the knowledge graph, live. Drag to rotate, shift-drag
to pan, scroll to zoom, click a type to hide it, press play or slide to scrub time.
